Great writing! You could say that short form media (mainly TikTok in this case) can won’t take away from Netflix’s nostalgic cultural moments but actually help bolster it. After watching let’s say the Harry Potter movies after it’s re-released on Netflix, people will flock to TikTok to talk about it which would make the cultural moments even stronger. Also, because you’re able to reach hundreds of millions of people on TikTok, there would be an even stronger sense of fomo.

Brilliant framing on the nostalgia vs new content dynamic. The GoT chart really hammers home that subscriptions lag quality by years, but track cultural momentum instantly. I've seen orgs get burned trying to manufacture viral moments with expensive original content when repackaging old IP does the job way cheaper. The WB bid makes total sense when you think about it as buying a subscription engien rather than just content rights.

It's really terrible! 90% of the cast is totally useless, there's too many people to give any of them reasonable character growth, they all have crazy plot armor so it feels like there's no stakes (Dustin really should be dead), elevens powers change constantly to fit whatever plot needs there are, vecna is a completely unnecessary character, most of the characters don't talk like normal people, Will is a full grown adult now why is he in highschool, none of the military guys get any characterization at all, and the show treats its viewers like idiots who cannot put 2+2 together (obviously the big bad is Henry! It's not a surprise!)

The list goes on
